A Blog Named Hero - Make the Sentiment the Star

Over at A Blog Named Hero there is a fun challenge where we are supposed to "make the sentiment the star", i. e. the sentiment should be the main focus on the card.
I stamped a background and die-cutted the sentiment from it. Added five more die-cuts under the one from the background. Finally I colored the top die-cut with Distress Markers. A few letter stickers, and voila! I think this would be a cute wedding card!

You had me at hello!

Life Book week 30

Letting Go and Letting In with Flora Bowley (Main lesson)

Abstract isn't really my cup of tea, actually, but this lesson seemed like a good lesson to losen up a bit more since I haven't been painting for a while.
The first part of the lesson was to gather up a visual language and even though it seemed a bit boring - I wanted to start painting! - I think it was a great learning experience.
Flora works on two paintings at the same time in order to let the pieces dry up a bit before adding more layers. I also think it is a good way to paint intuitively.
I liked the idea of letting go and letting in and not being too precious about what you're creating. It was  fun painting like Flora Bowley, but a bit challenging. It took a while before I liked what I was doing. I think I will do more of this. I really enjoy painting freely!
The final paintings got a bit dark so I had to lighten them up with a bit of doodling with a white Sharpie this morning. I am quite pleased with what I came up with!

Life Book week 16

Being Here Now with Alena Hennessy (Bonus Lesson)

I have taken a break from Life Book lately. I felt that the lessons took a bit too much time. But I miss painting so I wanted to find a fairly quick and easy lesson to get me back on the train and I found this bonus lesson by the super sweet Alena Hennessy. Just by watching her talk on the videos I got so calm and felt really happy!

To find out more about Alena Hennessy, go to www.alenahennessy.com

We were supposed to do three warm up paintings to loosen ourselves up and to access our intuitive and free-nature style of painting. The paintings should be done in 15, 10, and 5 minute increments. The lesson is all about freeing up your hand and playing with the paint to tap into the way we created as children. This is a super fun and immediately satisfying little lesson, Alena Hennessy wrote, and I can agree with that!

It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.

-Picasso

This is not my style in painting at all and I don't even know if I like them yet. But it was really freeing. It felt good in my heart! The first painting took me 13 minutes, the second 8 minutes and the third 5 minutes. I completed the paintings with some doodling in the sofa in front of the tv during the commersials. I just had to finish them!

Create A Smile turns 1!

I recently discovered a new stamp company on Facebook - Create A Smile. And to celebrate 1 year they have  challenge. I already signed up on Facebook and Instagram, but I really, really want to win all the pretty stuff so I decided to have a go in the challenge on the blog as well! I really like what they make. Look at all these goodies!

For us who don't have any stamps from Create A Smile we could use the freebies. So here is my first card created with digi stamps and also my first shaker card! It was great fun to make!

I decided to give the penguin a swimming ring and a rubber duckie. I added 3D glaze on them to give them a bit of a shine and some texture. I colored the penguin with ProMarkers and on top of that Wink of Stella.

Happy Birthday

Virginia's View Challenge #16

The Virginia's View Challenge #16 theme is "100 % stamped". As I was playing around when I created something for the A Blog Named Hero Challenge I ended up with two cards. I'm entering both challenges with both of cards. They both have rainbow colors and are mostly stamped.

In the bottom of my drawer I found an old rainbow ink pad I haven't used for AGES. They were very popular for a while, but I think it was only for a short period! Nowadays the ombré ink pads are very popular, so why not? It's almost the same thing so I decided to have a go.

The background is made with one stamp that I stamped repeatedly by inking the stamp on different places on the inkpad to get a rainbow effect. I distressed the edges of the papers so the card wouldn't look too flat. The single flower and the sentiment are stamped and embossed in white on parchment paper and attached to the card with a brad.

A blog Named Hero

A Blog Named Hero has a photo challenge this month. I was inspired by the rainbow colors and started playing around trying to make a rainbow. When I was looking for inks to use I found this rainbow ink pad that was popular many, many years ago in the bottom of my drawer. So I decided to make something with that as well. I haven't used that one for AGES!! I ended up with two different cards and since I used almost only stamping on both I'm entering Virginia's View Challenge #16 with both as well.

The inspiration photo from
A Blog Named Hero

The background is made with a chevron stamp. I used the colors yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue and green. For each row I overlapped half of the previous stamped chevron pattern. By doing this I got a nice graduated pattern.

I die-cutted the word 'thanks' directly in the background and like five more from scrap pieces of paper. I glued them all together and the piece from the background on top to get the sentiment raised from the background. Finally I added some 3D glaze on it.

My StazOn ink pad is a bit tricky to stamp with, I think I have a poor copy. I don't get enough ink on my stamp and have to press really, really hard. This time I stamped so hard so the paper tore and I got a piece left on the stamp. So I had to add some more decorations, hence the eyelets!

Gummiapan - utmaning #2

Simon Says Stamp - Monday Challenge: Anything Goes

Don't let anybody steal your shine

When you have stuff left over from projects you can quite easily make another batch of cards. You already have chosen the color scheme so the things already match!
I like using up my scrap pieces of paper. When I can't die-cut anymore from a piece of paper I can still glue it into my art journal to make interesting backgrounds!

Leftovers!

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is 'Anything goes', so I'm entering with these cards.

I really like these dark grey cards and envelopes and the pale greenish yellowish decorations. Glow-in-the-dark green is probably my favourite color! I played around a little and ended up with three different designs.

Craftstamper Take it, Make It Challenge - July

The card is for my niece on her 2nd birthday

The TIMI challenge in Juli is a 'Take A Stamp' challenge and the theme is: Anything Goes!

It's my niece's birthday today so I made a card for her by using a stuff from the collection 'Fine and dandy' from MME. Therefor the card was quite quick to make. I just stamped the rabbits from Lawn Fawn and did some paper piecing. The carrot actually is the Christmas Tree from the same stamp set!

You're special!

Närbild. Om man kollar noga kan man se
fiskfjällen glittra!

Jag älskar vatten! Jag älskar havet, sjöar, fontäner, bäckar, vattenfall och dammar. You name it!

Waffle Flower Challenge – June 22 to July 5

You´re special

Only one week ago or so I discovered a new company which I instantly fell in love with - Waffle Flower. I am completely and utterly in love with their stamps and their dies!
I also liked their challenge a lot so I decided to try my new die out. We were supposed to be inspired by a photo and the colors really spoke to me. I love the combo of this turqoiuse and pale green/fluorecent green.

I made a quick card using the die and some scrap pieces of paper. I distressed the pieces of paper a bit before I glued it all together. I really, really like these glow-in-the-dark stars which you normally put in the ceiling of childrens rooms. I think they look great on cards as well! Finally I stamped a greeting and added on the top of everything.
